We challenge conventional wisdoms and explore every opportunity that offers promise, and we’ve done so for more than 25 years.As Director of Individual Giving, Adam Wagner is responsible for securing 6-8 figure philanthropic gifts supporting the work of our critical program leadership. Adam, with his team, manages relationships with a global portfolio of major donors and secures support from thousands of individual donors annually.

I direct and oversee the execution of a multi-channel individual donor strategy focused on acquisition and upgrade giving. I supervise a team of two, and work in close partnership with executive and program leadership to cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors at all levels. In addition, I maintain a portfolio of 75-100 major donors and prospects, cultivating new support and soliciting 6 and 7 figure gifts.

Working in close partnership with the Executive Director and key leadership, I identifiy, cultivate, and solicit transformational support for Appalachian Voices. Working with a dedicated team, I manage the major donor pipeline and execute strategy for a portfolio of diverse donors across the United States.

In April, 2020, I was promoted to Associate Director of Development. Working in close partnership with the Director of Development and CEO, I advance the mission of Hospice of the Piedmont, the second largest nonprofit hospice & palliative care provider in Virginia, through data-driven, relationship focused donor strategy. I work closely with a diverse portfolio of leadership and major giving individuals, corporations, and institutional funders to increase their support to Hospice of the Piedmont. Supervising one gift officer and one program staff manager, I oversee donor engagement, event sponsorship strategy, and donor-supported program needs. I grow our support through building relationships with new donors, and by stewarding current key donors to increased giving levels by creating individual giving strategies unique to the donor's needs and interests.I sit on Hospice of the Piedmont's Leadership Forum, a management group responsible for the oversight of the organization's various units and ground-based execution of the organization's strategic goals. Additionally, I work with a committee of the leadership forum to support internal innovation to add to the value, efficiency, and quality of the care provided to our patients, families, and community. When necessary, I serve as the stand-in for the Director of Development.

In collaboration with the Director of Development, I created and deployed a communications plan, annual fund direct mail appeals, and leadership annual giving direct mail appeals. I drove communications strategy for annual fund and leadership annual giving donors, as well as managing a portfolio of leadership annual giving, major gift, and corporate and foundation donors. Working with a team of five, with one direct report, I managed event sponsorship and supported event execution.

Working with a diverse group of higher education clients nationwide to provide pre-campaign feasibility studies, plan capital campaigns, solicit major gifts in support of capital projects, and provide training and coaching to a group of volunteer campaign leaders. Additionally consulted clients on donor and alumni stewardship and support.

I worked with a team of financial professionals to assist clients in wealth management, tax strategy, family protection, philanthropic decision making. I was directly responsible for building a book of business, and assisting senior agents and representatives in their support of HNW clients.

I was responsible for several key functions of the organization, including membership, fundraising, aquatics, fitness, and building operations. I oversaw a staff of over 25 full and part-time employees, with six direct reports in various functional areas. Worked in collaboration with the CEO in fundraising efforts including events, annual campaign, corporate relations, and individual major giving.

The Field Secretary program was created by the 64th Ekklesia in 1912 to provide a yearly assessment of chapters, as well as a resource and conduit by which to share ideas. Phi Gamma Delta's Field Secretaries serve as consultants to the undergraduate chapters, the Purple Legionnaires (graduate advisors), and Boards of Chapter Advisors. They make a multiple-day visit to each chapter at minimum once a year to advise on all phases of chapter operations; to present programs on leadership, alcohol education, and academic improvement; to meet with college/university staff, and to work together with involved graduate brothers. Additionally, Field Secretaries support a variety of headquarters initiatives and major activities, including the planning and execution of FIJI Academy and the biannual Ekklesia. These events, which draw upwards of 1,000 people, are multi-faceted conferences that provide educational resources and govern the organization.

Directly supported the President and cabinet in their executive and administrative needs, including project management, donor stewardship and engagement, administrative support, communications and writing projects, and a variety of duties as assigned.
