Served 14 years in the First Battalion of The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR) or affectionately known by current & past serving members as "The Big Blue One". Rose up through the ranks starting as a Private soldier & retiring at the rank of WO2. During my time in service with the unit I was fortunate enough to serve overseas on:Operations Solace in Somalia 1993 &Operations Tanager in East Timor 2000.Recipient of the following Awards & Medals:CGS CommendationIInfantry Combat Badge (ICB)United Nations Medal (UN East Timor)Australian Active Service Medal (AASM Somalia/East Timor)Defence Service MedalDefence Long Service Medal (Two Bars)

The Sheraton Wentworth Hotel was located on Pitt St in Sydney.It would the name & location has changed to Sheraton on The Park.However, I was initially employed at the hotel as a in-house Security Officer by the Security Manager Michael Armstrong. As a Security Officer for the hotel I was responsible for the implementation of the Security Policy & Procedures which were almost nonexistent when I arrived. However, with guidance & diligence on by behalf.Shortly after completing the 3 mth probation period I was promoted to Security Supervisor. In this position I was responsible for the Daily Operations of the in-house Security Team & the Security Department overall in the absence of the Security manager (Annual leave).In June 1986 the Sheraton Breakwater Casino - Hotel located in Townsville was to be opened, as a result, a Opening Team was formed to ensure a smooth transition of the operation. As part of the opening Team we were relocated to the city of Townsville to oversee the final fit out of the property prior to opening & the establishment of Policy & Procedures pertinent to this property relating to Security. In consultation with the Security Manager Peter Willcox it was establish that the Department would require 3 x Security Shift Managers with one of the positions being offered & accepted by me. I remained in this position until my departure in June 1990 to return to the Australian Defence Force Army.
