As Managing Director, Walt leads Team NEO’s project management group which is focused on growing jobs and investments across NE Ohio's 18 county region including the Cleveland, Akron/Canton and Youngstown/Warren metro markets.

This position coordinates team project flow and manages economic development efforts as part of Team NEO’s Regional Business Development (RBD) group which is the JobsOhio network partner / regional office in Northeast Ohio. Serving a mega region that includes metropolitan Cleveland, Akron, Canton and Youngstown, it involves working closely with business, local economic development and other private / public sector leaders as their connection point to regional resources and JobsOhio, the state’s private, nonprofit organization that promotes job creation and economic development in Ohio. It is in part responsible for negotiating and closing on all financial assistance programs available through JobsOhio and representing this organization in the region. In addition, it involves deal structuring that includes partnership building and the use of a wide variety of programs that, in part, includes; tax abatements, historic and other tax credits, tax increment financing, port authority capabilities, SBA and a host of other financing vehicles, workforce development resources and more. Since inception in 2011, Team NEO’s RBD group has completed 242 projects, resulting in investments totaling more than $3.3 billion, creating 17,400 jobs and retaining 49,800 positions.

Youngstown, Ohio Area

Lead the Regional Chamber's Economic Development Program which included directing a metrics driven team and strategically focused business attraction and regional business retention and expansion program. This capacity involved implementing and executing an award winning business attraction and marketing campaign, managing Community Reinvestment Areas and Enterprise Zones, directing all project management activities, overseeing strategic alliances and committees, identifying and developing key partnerships, directing research efforts, business park and downtown office property management, leading Community Improvement Corporations, managing partner contracts and relationships, serving as the Chamber’s primary economic development contact and more. Under this leadership, the Chamber division won numerous prestigious honors, including the Excellence in Economic Development Award from the International Economic Development Council, plus completed 156 projects, resulting in $1.95 billion in new investments, 9,200 new and 15,600 retained jobs.

Responsible for corporate cash management, this included investing millions of dollars daily using short and medium term vehicles. In addition, monitored / managing associated key accounts.
