People often ask me about what got me in to flying. Wallpaper is my response. As a young child I had a room that had biplane wall paper and it fascinated me to no end. Growing up I built balsa wood airplanes collected numerous books on flying and in high school was an active member of the Civil Air Patrol. During my college years I was a residential volunteer firefighter while attending the Commercial Pilot Program in Moses Lake, WA. After earning two associates degrees and earning my Commercial Pilots license I transferred to Western Washington University where I studied Industrial Technology with an emphasis on vehicle research. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science I focused on becoming a professional pilot.For the last 17 years I have been fortunate enough to be a professional pilot. The last 10 of which I have served as a Captain. In that time I have gained a wealth of valuable experience learning how to work effectively with other co-workers in a dynamic and fast paced environment. As a leader I have learned how to effectively delegate many tasks to other co-workers in a professional respectful manner that I believe optimizes our effectiveness as a crew, and produces a positive environment for both the passengers that we fly every day, but also the company that we work for. In my time off I enjoy volunteering at my daughters schools where I get a chance to tudor children that may be struggling in subject areas such as math or reading. Sometimes the biggest help I could offer a teacher was sharpening pencils for the students! although it seemed trivial at first, knowing that I was saving time in the classroom by the simple act of sharpening pencils gave me a good feeling. I also enjoy volunteering at my local church where I have hosted dinner for the youth group, helped to clean up neighbors yards when they aren't able to and served as one of the mens group leaders.
