I assist end users needing assistance with using EPA's Central Data Exchange website, which is used to comply with various environmental regulations. Most of my work entails working with a customer site, either on-site, or remotely. Once there, I do administrative work to install Environmental Field Notes (EFWs) and/or perform what’s called hand offs from one part of the site to another. A hand-off is the transferring of data from a field notes page, or index page (like the Environmental Field Note Index, or "EFN Index") to another page. An EFW contains environmental data that is useful for the data user to gather, review and analyze. I help customers install and update software and other IT/computer hardware and software on their computers, as well as installing or upgrading telephone or Internet connections.Environmental Field Notes is a web-based inventory of products, sites and programs that are relevant to EPA’s Environmental Resource Management (ERM) program. It serves as a tool to help organizations with compliance with these and other federal environmental regulations. EFW data are regularly updated to include new products and facilities, compliance rules and new legislation, changes in government agencies, etc. As a result of changes in law or EPA's priorities, many new reports are now available on EFW.My initial interest in working for EPA was because of my participation in a summer program when I was in high school. I worked in relay analysis as part of transmission technical support. I helped investigate any relay misoperations and determine appropriate corrective procedures. As a relay maintainer, I worked on relays in order to repair them in order to ensure reliable service. At the start of each day, I produced a spreadsheet with information on the initial problem, the required repairs, and the amount of time required to accomplish them.
