I graduated from James Madison University in 2013 with a degree in Integrated Science And Technology (ISAT) and concentrated in Environment. In the years following graduation, I've co-owned/operated a market garden, Collicello Gardens, and successfully campaigned to pass a Harrisonburg City ordinance amendment to enable the growth of market gardens. After that I worked with a native plant focused landscaping business, and learned dry stack stonework in order to help create some pretty nice landscape installations, assisted in five stream restoration projects, and applied my planning and strategic mindset to project management. I went on a brief hiatus from the Valley to travel out to Oregon, hiking and camping while while also helping manage nurseries, start new veggie farms, and picking up odd jobs. I returned to the valley in 2019, mostly to be closer to family, working again with native plants and landscapes. In 2020 I began filling for patents on a novel electrolyzer apparatus, learned how to design 3d prints for rapid prototyping of various components, and tested hypotheses. In 2021 I founded Helix Hydrogen, inc., a startup aiming to manufacture electrolyzers for the green hydrogen economy. With that business I have conducted market and customer discovery research, and in the fall of 2022, participated in Startup Shenandoah (S2v) through the Shenandoah Community Capital Fund (SCCF). In February 2023, Helix Hydrogen was awarded a $4k prize from the Dominion Energy Innovation Center at the SPARK RVA Innovation Showcase event. In Spring and summer of 2023, I participated in and graduated from the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation's (VIPC) Innovation Commercialization Acceleration Program (ICAP).
