I Left school in 1984 and went straight into work as a butcher, starting in the Leeds market working for G Todd Ltd just as a General Counter Assistant and slowly worked up to become Shop Manager by the time I turned 21 and did this successfully for a further 4 years until the whole industry took a big hit with the mad cow disease scare so I decided to look for something new. In August of 1993 i started work for a company called CHEP (part of the Brambles group) as a pallet repairer and did this until 1998 when i was promoted to full time trainer assessor after achieving the qualifications D32 & D33 and did this until December of 2004 when the company asked me if i would like to apply for the shift managers job at the new depot they had opened that provided trays for all the leading supermarkets, I was successful and started working there late in that month. I did the role for 5 years whilst achieving the qualifications of IOSH working safely, IOSH Managing safely and NEBOSH general certificates. In 2009 I became the health and safety manger for the site and when Brambles acquired IFCO they gave me the opportunity to pass my skills and experience around the globe working in such places as South America , North America and most of Europe. I decided after 28 years of working for CHEP/IFCO it was time to find something a little closer to home so my new venture began at Just trays in Leeds has quality manager in January 2022.
