Dear Learned Colleagues,I am standing and seek your support in the Law Society Council elections open now for voting with my colleagues Catherine Samuels, Elizabeth Stahlut and Dr Howard Bell. If elected I am committed to strongly advocating for and supporting our profession on important issues such as;• Positively promoting our profession as caring and as a valuable services and contributions we provide to every aspect of the community.• Protecting and promoting our profession in positive ways both in traditional media and through new digital platforms to increase and protect our areas of work and income streams. • Advocate for Land titles services, data security and low filing and transaction costs given the taxpayer is still bound to underwrite the Torrens guarantee.• Improved solicitor and judicial resources in our courts. Currently Judicial hours are being cut back especially in regional areas while our population is growing. • Investigate ways to decease our indemnity insurance costs and other fees.• Increased member services for health & welfare and delivery of services to members. • Increased benefits for members. • Improve our Law Society website for ease of access and delivery of services to members• Better linking our lawyers with unrepresented clients such as on a LS website notice board.• Implement Programs for the disadvantaged, improved legal aid rates, notice boards & pro bono websites to enable unrepresented and disadvantage clients to find lawyers.• Increased pathways for indigenous lawyers to help reduce deaths in custody and youths in custody.• Promote diversity, inclusion and equality in our profession as leaders and representatives in our diverse multicultural society. • More affordable continuing legal education within our profession on current, topical subjects, judgments, practice notes and management, • Being available to hear your needs and views for a better profession within our cities and regional country areas.I also enthusiastically encourage you in the very highest terms to vote for my very learned and wonderful colleagues Dr Howard Bell, Elizabeth Stahlut and Catherine Samuels whom each are also outstanding candidates for NSW law society Council.
