Consultant- Maritime Behaviours And Infrastructure, Fire & All Hazards Emergency Planning & Response
A water based recreation, tourism and maritime activity specialist with 20 years of management experience and most of a life time on the water. I have been fortunate to a have assembled a detailed understanding of port and waterway users and what they are passionate about. I have a unique perspective- built on long term community consultation, working with peak bodies, interaction with commercial operations, a generation of recreational and commercial boating and ongoing input into government legislation, policy and programs. My career focus has been practical maritime and waterway problems solving and risk management.Recently I have been living aboard our 'Greek Office' for a portion of our winter and their peak season. The Ionian and Adriatic are considered by many to be one of, and by some, the best cruising ground in the world. There are some amazing insights into facilities capacity, trends in vessel types and emerging maritime technologies. Australia feels the influence of some of these shifts over time American experiences are also planned. My fire experience includes accreditation as a Level 3 Planner in fire and all hazards / all emergencies situations. I have led the planning units in fire responses since the 02-03 and 05-06 alpine fires. I spent 30 days over many shifts leading the Planning Unit prior to and after the Black Saturday fires. I have also worked as a Ranger in Charge and have diverse range of experiences in planned burning, on ground wildfire response and rehabilitation work following wildfire. I have contributed to the DSE Planning group – a semi-formal forum that was convened to accelerate and consolidate the planning delivery. Important projects included the development of the automated Incident Shift Plan and supporting Toolbox processes. I have always been a strong advocate for an integrated planning unit; and being based near Melbourne have had the satisfaction of working IMTs made up from leading professionals from CFA and DELWP
