About Bill May

William B. May is founder and president of Catholics for the Common Good Institute, and spokesman for the Marriage Reality Movement. CCGI is a lay apostolate for the evangelization of culture based on the social teaching of the Catholic Church. In January 2015, the apostolate announced the formation of the Marriage Reality Movement (http://takebackmarriage.org), people working to take back marriage for their children and families by reintroducing it to a culture that has forgotten its meaning. He is the author of "Getting the Marriage Conversation Right, a guide for effective dialogue", and appeared in the EWTN six-part miniseries, "Evangelizing the Culture for Marriage and Family." He is a sought after speaker on marriage, family, and evangelization of culture.In 2008, Bill and Catholics for the Common Good were asked by the California Catholic Conference to lead Catholics for Protect Marriage, the lay Catholic response to the Proposition 8 effort that successfully restored the definition of marriage between a man and a woman in California. He has appeared on Good Morning America, The News Hour, ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, BBC, Fox News Channel, CNN, NPR, EWTN Radio, Immaculate Heart Radio, Radio Guadalupe, Relevant Radio, and the Catholic Channel. He has been a guest on Catholic Answers Live, Kresta in the Afternoon, and many other programs.

Catholics for the Common Good Institute, a response to the call of Blessed John Paul II for the evangelization of culture, and has developed a major project, The Marriage Reality Movement (takebackmarriage.org), to take back marriage for our children and families. Cultural confusion about love, sexuality and marriage negatively influence our children, make Church teaching appear unreasonable, and affect choices they make in their lives. The marriage issue is about much more than winning a political debate. Members learn concrete ways to take back marriage, and have access to exclusive events and webinars. Former U.S. Ambassador to the Vatican and Mayor of Boston, Ray Flynn, recently wrote, “I have followed CCG’s leadership on the marriage issue with both admiration and amazement. CCG has shown Catholics across America how to be Catholic.” Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, Chairman USCCB Subcommittee for the Promotion and Defense of Marriage has said, "Stand With Children, a marriage-advocacy program started in California by Catholics for the Common Good , is a great place for lay Catholics to begin."
