Dr. Wei Chen is Vice President of Intel NEX Group and general manager of NEX China business unit. He is responsible for the Profit and Loss of NEX China business which exceeded $1B in revenue for over a decade. This NEX China business unit is responsible for accelerated growth through providing optimized HW and SW integrated solutions to accelerate digital transformation and AI application scaling in almost all market verticals that take advantage of digital transformation to enhance its efficiency and operational quality and total cost of ownership. Some of the named verticals include Education, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Transportation, Networking etc. Chen leads a team with strong and diversified capabilities that include business incubation, product management and development and customer enabling functions which provide end to end capability to establish and scale business. Team’s expertise centered around Intel Si and SW products and amplified by the knowledge of applying the integrated solutions to address market vertical top issues. Chen pioneered this China based business unit establishment15 years ago focusing on embedded and communications business and led to the recent formation of NEX China organization. Chen joined Intel in 2000 as a transistor processor integration group leader in Si Fab in Arizona and led the successful ramp of Si production. He was later assigned to lead Technology and Manufacturing Group in China and served as a member of Intel China leadership team since 2004. Between 2004 to 2010, Chen led the China based Assembly and Test manufacturing with over 2000 employees and was responsible for Intel’s Chipset and CPU packaging manufacturing in China. Since 2010, Chen established a China based business unit which focused on embedded and communications business that was later converted to Intel’s Internet of Things Group in China and eventually the NEX China team responsible for defining and establishing Intel’s business growth for the emerging China edge, network and connectivity market. Chen resides in Shanghai China for the past 20 years and currently leads the China NEX BU with over 500 employees and is also a member of global NEX staff and Intel China staff. Chen holds a Ph.D. in Physics from University of Southern California.
