Being part of such a large school with such a high number of challenging pupils has further developed my behaviour management skills with a wide range of pupils. Whilst adapting to the ever changing demands of experimental routines and initiatives, I have remained committed to the pursuit of excellence in my own classroom. This unwavering dedication has resulted in a consistent record of delivering Good to Outstanding lessons. Subsequently, I have been asked to advise colleagues on their classroom strategies and the use of effective methods of behaviour management. My work as advisor has been so successful at bringing about change that I have been recruited as a senior mentor and now support struggling teachers in the classroom. Show less

This work in KS 2-3 furthered my experience with challenging pupils within the mainstream sector and challenged me to implement effective ways of teaching various groups. I founded choirs and built instrumental groups which, under my direction, reached a high standard of performance and were invited to represent the island in celebrations at Manchester's Bridgewater Hall and Portsmouth Cathedral. This was a very fulfilling job within the Special Needs sector teaching Literacy and Music to KS1-3 pupils within self-contained classrooms for very challenging pupils on the Isle of Wight. Having recently moved from a smaller SEN school in Hampshire, this position in a much larger school developed my ability to teach a wider range of pupils with far-reaching needs.
