I was selected as a 2020 Knight Visiting Nieman Fellow, but my fellowship got postponed until fall 2021 due to the pandemic. For my fellowship, I created a curriculum of professional workshops designed to educate reporters on how to cover disability issues and to train newsrooms to be more inclusive of disabled journalists. The fellowship period (Oct-Dec 2021) served as only a springboard for the project, as I will continue to develop, finalize, and distribute the curriculum in 2022.

Since 2016, I've covered disability, culture, and employment for the Well, Style and special ADA30 sections for The New York Times. I produced a story package about disabled women navigating the dating world (listed as a Notable Entry for the 2017 Katherine Schneider Journalism Award for Excellence in Disability Reporting), a personal essay about the nurse who saved my life, and a reported feature on how young people experience the “Me Too” movement. In 2020, I wrote a story about companies that only recruit disabled people (and why that hiring strategy isn't actually effective for promoting inclusion) for the NYT special section commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act. I wrote an obituary for the disability activist Kitty Cone as part of the Times' obit series "Overlooked No More."

I worked as an editor at Planned Parenthood's national office in New York City. I provided editorial support across all departments to verify national data, identify sourcing discrepancies or fact errors, and decipher health studies or other data on sex education and reproductive health care. I also managed a research database of fact sheets focusing on the health disparities and needs of the LGBTQ, Black and Latinx communities.
