As a member of the Zooniverse at the Adler Planetarium, I help build apps that facilitate collaboration between research institutions and everyday people. Through the Zooniverse, citizens can help scientists discover new planets, identify mammals in Africa, or analyze satellite images.As a Zooniverse developer, I write in Javascript (React) for our frontend, React Native for our mobile app, Python for data processing, and C# for our touch table app.

Dev Bootcamp is a 19-week intensive training program for aspiring web developers, specializing in Ruby, Rails, HTML5, CSS, Test Driven Development, Object-Oriented Javascript (AJAX, jQuery), Git and Heroku.The first nine weeks of the program are remote, while the second nine weeks are an immersive, in-class experience focusing on collaborative programming. The program also addresses intra- and interpersonal strategies to fostering optimal learning and teamwork environments.

As an Assistant General Manager, I helped facilitate the startup of a new music venue and coffee shop. This included creating signage for displays and menus, as well as designs for the website, social media, and other merchandise. Working as a manager allowed me to foster collaborative relationships with local businesses and community organizations.

Better Basics is a non-profit that aims to increase the literacy rates of elementary and middle-school students in Birmingham. As a Grants Coordinator, I wrote and managed over 70 grants, annually. This included maintaining communication with funders by sending reports and letters of gratitude. After nine months, I had secured over $300k in grant funds and assisted the development team in exploring alternative funding opportunities.

Ukraine

I taught English, literature and pedagogy as a professor at Lugansk Academy of Culture and Arts in Lugansk, Ukraine. In Donetsk, I directed camp MAKE, which taught leadership, English, human rights, environmentalism, and project design to 75 teenagers. I also directed camp TOBE, which taught gender relations and HIV/AIDS to 18 teenage boys. Overall, I wrote two grants, and was involved in a third totaling over $15,000.I also helped my academy open a youth center to train 12 students in project design and teamwork. These students learned about project management and created their own project to benefit the community at the end of a four-month program.Nationally, I headed the Domestic Violence sub-committee of the Peace Corps' Gender and Development council (GAD). As a member of this subcommittee, I developed and distributed domestic violence education packet to over 400 volunteers. This packet included information and lessons to help volunteers teach gender education in their own communities.

Birmingham Reads

Birmingham READS delivers individual reading instruction to students in Birmingham City Schools. By developing tutoring programs catering to individual student abilities, I improved the test scores of 17 kindergarten students at Phillips Academy. Daily, I also assisted teachers with activities and classroom management
