This required both nurses to be very skilled at procedures such as starting IV’s, inserting catheters, making soft splints, etc. If a truly emergency situation arose, such as a patient in a lethal cardiac rhythm, we would have to use whatever resources we had to stabilize the patient and transport them. We had to work with limited resources and staff and be at the top of our game at all times to ensure the highest level of care and safety was given to every patient that walked through our doors. Responsibilities include prepping patients for surgery, i.e. interviews, baseline vitals, lab draws, IV starts, EKG's, etc., as well as recovering patients after surgeries or procedures.
