My work is for Professor Damon Jones in support of his working paper, "Wealth, Race, and Consumption Smoothing of Typical Labor Income Shocks." The study exploits variation in coworkers' pay to estimate individuals' consumption response to labor income shocks, investigating how these consumption patterns vary with race and wealth. My work has concentrated on a structural model which allows for an estimate of welfare loss due to consumption volatility. The model is a python-based lifecycle model of consumption and saving, and I am implementing optimization techniques to match its simulated output to empirical moments from the data.

As part of the MACRM Research Apprenticeship, I worked with Professor William Howell to compile, clean, and analyze a dataset on the powers of governors in the United States. My work involved the use of R to prepare a panel dataset of governors' powers across the 50 U.S. states from 1978 to present. Following the completion of the dataset, I analyzed constitutional and statutory vestments of power to governors to assess the viability of a study relying on these vestments as a source of variation.

As a scientist with the Dynetics’ Sensor Systems Analysis and Engineering (SSA&E) group, I had the opportunity to work on interesting and diverse projects across defense engineering. In addition to conducting physical research in support of models and simulations of infrared sensor systems, I developed telemetry software solutions for the Common-Hypersonic Glide Body (C-HGB) system and worked closely with the Materials and Processes Laboratory at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC). Highlights:- Modeled the heating of an IR window as part of an Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) advanced concepts research team - Contributed to the development of a sensor model for the U.S. Army’s technical division of Aircraft Survivability Equipment (ASE)- Upgraded and recoded control and data acquisition software for MSFC’s High-Temperature Emissivity Measurement System (HiTEMS)- Assisted in development of an electric-field model for the chamber region of MSFC’s electrostatic levitator (ESL)- Improved LabVIEW control software for MSFC’s ESL capability by addressing issues related to sample instability- Researched and implemented various image quality metrics to assess performance of an electrodynamic dust shield

- Worked to demonstrate feasibility of Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) on the CubeSat scale- Designed, assembled, and tested downlink payload optics/uplink tracking systems

- Assisted in aligning interferometer optics to facilitate plasma density measurements on Auburn's Compact Toroidal Hybrid (CTH) fusion experiment- Helped revamp water cooling systems on the Auburn Linear Experiment of Instability Studies (ALEXIS)- Collected spectroscopy data from multiple campus plasma experiments using SpectraPro HRS-500 spectrometer
