Senior Technical Specialist

This position was a natural extension of my previous roles and I was required to become a lot more involved in the interaction of the Assure department within the wider business groups, part of my key duties are:• Acting as a SME for projects which impact the Assure space, this includes making business decisions on how to process / investigate cases along with writing and ensuring processes and documentation are fit for purpose and maintained• Assisting with ongoing development within the team for both soft skills and technical training• Understanding and assisting with the departmental roadmap and future methods of operation• Acting as the SME across multiple business units within Chorus as well the Retail and Service partners, engaged to provide guidance on next steps for both complicated technical faults as well as how to improve the service / process for future interactions• Provide intra-departmental assistance, working with both our field force, hand in hand with Infrastructure Operations, Network Operations, often singularly and then working as a coordinator between a series of different departments to ensure smooth resolution of issue whether they be internal or external of Chorus• On-call component, as a technical lead within Assure I was always on call to answer any questions that may require assistance, both from our customers, internally within Assure and from our Service partners.• A technical lead for NGA / GPON technology along with all other products supported by the Chorus Assure team (all Chorus products along with Telecom Agency)As a Layer 2 SME, I have a solid grasp of network topology from physical network whether it be fibre or copper, through to the network build side of things / cable rearrangements to the DSLAM / MUX / Bearer including regenerators, ring / star topologies, fibre rings and diversity setups.
