From 19th century daguerreotypes to original copies of handwritten poems about the civil rights movement and the second world war, our archives contain quite a bit of history. Through this role I will get hands on experience in preservation and cataloging of historical documents, in collaboration with the professional librarians and archivists at UNC's Wilson Library. I will also collaborate with our arts director to curate a publication of the modern works of art of the members of our organization. Show less

During my time at VOA, I collaborated with three other interns to produce all of the pre-recorded segments of the Bi weekly border crossings music show. Creating such a high volume of content with such speed and quality necessitated I create and foster relationships with musicians and artist managers. I also enhanced my research skills for interview background and current events reporting. Lastly I developed an efficient workflow for producing spoken and musical audio.

In this role I managed a case list of 16 students to develop a variety of skills.- I worked with 16 students in one on one capacity- I learned emotional regulation and mental health first aid skills, and how to teach these skills to students.- For each student I also helped in academic goal setting. Through the use of SMART goals I helped guide students through the process of setting and meeting their own personalized benchmarks.

In which I organized 30 participants to use the product daily, and collected feedback from these participants in informal one on one interviews. My translation and Interpretation of the data for the rest of the team directly led to the development of new features. Show less
