I was responsible for developing, implementing and driving high standards of health, safety and risk management across a nationwide health club estate. I achieved this by reviewing current practice; consulting and advising senior staff; updating policy and operating procedures; training and developing Managers’ risk management skills; implementing robust business compliance auditing and establishing a Health & Safety Committee.

I was responsible for the delivery of and strategic approach to, all aspects of health, safety and risk. I worked with all stakeholders, internal and external, to develop and implement policies and practical procedures that could be easily implemented and audited across the Trust’s 77 academies. I significantly improved communication systems within the facilities department and across central services, including the launch of regional and national conferences.

London & South England

My role was to provide health, safety & facilities management support & advise to the Academies (Secondary & Primary) in London & the south of England. This relied on building relationships within the academies at all levels, from Principals to Caretakers, and within the organisation at senior and executive level.

Wokingham

Provide strategic advice and implementation of health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring compliance at all levels, from the main board to individual site operations. Responsible for:• Group Health & Safety across 55 sites with approx 3000 employees, 200,000 members• Risk / insurance matters i.e. public and employee liability claims management • Designing, implementing and undertaking audit systems to monitor and ensure compliance • The creation and implementation of safety management systems including; o Risk Assessments o Fire Safety o Accident prevention and management o Operational safety procedures• Identifying and delivering appropriate health and safety training to all levels of employees;• Providing regular reports, advice and recommendations to all stakeholders and departments - food & beverage, property & maintenance, operations and facilities;• Reporting to the main board on compliance, strategy, risk and solutions;• Investigating serious accidents and injuries and liaising with enforcement authorities.

Doncaster - National Role

During my nine years at LA fitness I held various group managment positions in Quality Control, Health & Safety and Facility and Property Managment.In my role as Head of Risk I was responsible for the following areas: • Risk Depart incorporating health and safety and related insurance• Development of Facilities and Property Team • Management of out-sourced facilities company and capital works.

Group Facilities Manager 1996 - 1998.Responsible for the implementation, auditing and updating of health & safety procedures in 55 Hotel Clubs and 35 corporate units.
