Roy Hill Mine

Boilermaker/WelderNRW Civil and MiningI have worked on the rail project on a 4&1 roster at Roy Hill mine, working as a mobile plant boilermaker for the MEM Workshop. Maintenance repairs on different machines such as caterpillar, Komatsu, Hitachi, Bell earthmoving equipment.My initial duties were:• Fabricating, repairing and general maintenance of all aspects of heavy mobile equipment• All welding processes are done with innershield wire, 232 and 311 wire for down hand welding on buckets • Bucket rebuilds, strip downs and rearmouring• Repairing excavator buckets, arc air gouging old adaptors off and replacing new ones, replace guana bars, heel blocks and lip protectors as well• Dozer blade reskins and crack repairs on track frames• Refurbishment on dump truck trays including floor and side plate repairs• Undertaking preventative maintenance inspections and repairs of mobile mining equipment.• Work with the Maintenance Team to coordinate repair activities in conjunction with other Maintenance Teams on site.• Accurate completion of technical documentation, reports and drawings as required.• Use of computerized maintenance systems (SAP)• Taking a proactive role in setting and maintaining standards of appropriate behavior. • Coaching and mentoring Apprentices as required.• Manufacture fabricated assemblies including rails, transport frames, racks, stands and tooling as required. • Operation of mobile equipment within limits of competence, training and experience.• An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.

• Carry out service, maintenance, repair and fabrication on all aspects of heavy mobile plant(HME) including but not limited to Excavators, Dozers, Dump Trucks, Loaders and Scrapers in operations (CAT, Komatsu, Terex, Liebherr, Hitachi, Bell). • Perform a broad range of fabrication/welding works using innershield wire (232/311) for works on bucket rebuilds, strip downs, re-armouring and replacement of adaptors, guana bars heel blocks and lip protectors.• Operate and maintain a diverse range of hand, air and power tools. Tag out any defective equipment.• Ensure all work is completed with the highest regard for all statutory and regulatory aspects of OHS&E guidelines, procedures and controls. Report and hazards or concerns and rectify accordingly.• Attend daily pre-start meetings and completed all relevant risk and hazard paperwork including JHAs/Take 5s.• Train, coach and mentor junior Boilermakers and provided on the job support and guidance.• Read, interpret and understand detailed engineering drawings, schematics and plans.• Complete preventative maintenance (PM) schedules and liaise closely with maintenance teams.

I worked in a fabrication workshop where I manufactured bases to complete the gas turbine enclosures and exhaust systems for the oil and gas industry. For every task, I received a detailed drawing to fabricate the product to specification and used certain machinery like bending press, guillotine, base drill and bender to complete the product.

For every 200m, I installed bulkhead coolers to reduce the temperatures on all the levels.All the pipe work like bends, sets, make-ups, reducers, and laterals where fabricated underground.
