While Lead Advisor for Intended Business students, I balanced providing individualized advising appointments to a caseload of 300 students per semester with managing, training, and coordinating a team of 6+ academic advisors. I built relationships from the ground up with Terry College of Business and UGA Athletic Association stakeholders to open communication channels and implement mutually beneficial programming.

As an Academic Advisor, I focused on building rapport with my caseload of 300+ students so as to demystify the Terry College application process. My advising philosophy was appreciative in nature with a focus on major exploration, teaching understanding of the curriculum, and business-as-metamajor rather than a prescriptive approach to the Business curriculum.

As a Tutor in the UGA Athletic Writing Center, I worked in a 1:1 format with dozens of UGA student-athletes across all sports. Sessions ranged from one-off help with solo writing assignments to weekly and daily meetings with students in need of greater academic structure and support.

As an Academic Mentor in the Rankin Smith Student-Athlete Academic Center, I met a caseload of ~6 students each semester for weekly 1:1 meetings focused on developing time management and study skills.

I arrived at this position when I needed something - anything - to start making money. I was actually getting married the Saturday after I interviewed for the position and we had just moved to Athens from Milledgeville so my wife could finish school. I spent the (very) early hours of weekday mornings for the next 2 years moving overnight freight, managing seasonal projects, conducting weekly inventory audits, and assisting the contractors who would pop in when we opened the doors. I was certified to drive forklifts, lift trucks, order pickers, and electric pallet jacks. I listened to A LOT of podcasts. But I keep this job on my profile as a reminder to myself and others that even the small jobs matter, that I do have the capacity to get up at 4AM, and I will do whatever I have to in patient anticipation of that next step.
