Directed a 100+ person military utility study team (study chartered by ACC, AFGSC, AFNORTH, AFSFC and PACAF; tech supplied by 6 AFRL Tech Directorates, AFIT, AFLCMC, and the Army SMDC and AMRDEC; strong industry collaborations; and operations researchers) assessing the military utility of Directed Energy (DE) sensors and weapons for Area and Point Defense missions. Strategic goal was to bring the “Speed of Light to the Fight by 2020” (email by-line of Dr. Kelly Hammett, AFRL/RD Director). We were 100% successful at this. $10M study achieved broad set of strategic DE technical advocacy & transition goals. THOR system acquired and fielded for Air Force Security Forces mission. Motivated multiple DE live-fire Experiments initiated by SDPE and an advanced sensor demo with 1AF advocacy and Canadian funding. Invited speaker at “DE Summit” – annual DE technical, political advocacy event in D.C.
