Financial Accounting Information for Decision MakingThis course is designed to help students appreciate the role of accountants in providing information helpful to decisions of investors, creditors, government regulators, and others, and how that information can be used. Emphasis is on understanding the meaning and value of the balance sheet, income statement, and statement of cash flows. The role of the auditor, internal controls, and ethical issues are examined. The annual report is used to explore how corporations apply accounting principles in presentations to the public.

Saco, Maine

I act as the principal Economic Development contact for the City of Saco, Maine. I work closely with the City Administrator and my colleagues within the City, our City Council and Mayor, our City Council, our downtown economic development partner, Saco Main Street, Inc., the Biddeford+Saco Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and a variety of city businesses and other organizations. Saco has a rich history of economic prosperity based in its friendly business community of engaged and active residents and stakeholders. The city boasts a highly regarded school system, recreational activity offerings from the beach to the trail system, and cultural assets filled with history and character. Recent commitments on Saco Island will usher in a new period of vitality and prosperity for core of our mill district/downtown. At city hall we have written comprehensive development strategies, zoning ordinances, and historic preservation ordinances.I come to this position with energy and enthusiasm to collaborate with community members and look toward the future to make Saco the place to grow a business and to build a great life. As our team looks toward the immediate future we have prioritized four actions:1. Promoting Saco as a place to visit, live, and grow a business2. Creating an engaged business community by collaborating with Saco Main Street and their outreach, planning, and development efforts3. Implementing the inaugural Start-Up Saco! business plan competition4.
