Performs professional work of considerable difficulty in providing counseling and treatment services to inmates in a secure facility; performs other services as assigned or required. This position will work with the clinical mental health provider team. Positions at this level are assigned a broad range of duties in the occupation. The employee uses judgment in selecting appropriate mental health guidelines and in applying general policies and procedures. The work produced and decisions made affect non-routine operations of the work unit. The employee applies knowledge to diversified subject matter, requiring some judgment in applying established procedures and guidelines.• Conducts assessments and evaluations of mentally and emotionally disturbed clients and/or to document drug and alcohol related problems.• Formulates treatment plans using a variety of intervention modalities and evaluates outcomes.• Conducts and participates in individual and group therapy.• Prepares social and case histories for use in diagnosis, treatment and dispositional release.• Consults with the interdisciplinary treatment team in the development and monitoring of individual treatment plans.• Participates in crisis intervention activities.• Prepares reports such as clinical team action item lists, meeting summaries, and clinical implementation status reports.• Coordinate discharge planning activities.• Interacts with courts, community agencies and other staff• Provides briefings and updates in Management team meetings.• Maintains written records and statistics.
