Bill Vaughan was born and raised in Rockville, Maryland and currently resides in Woodstock, Virginia with his wife, Laurel. Bill received an AA Degree from Montgomery College and a BA and MS in Geography and Cartographic Sciences from George Mason University. He served as GIS Program Manager for the Northern Virginia Planning District Commission before becoming County Demographer for Prince William County in 1996. In 1997, he became Senior Research Manager for the Prince William County Department of Economic Development; more recently he became Chief Economist and County Demographer with the Prince William County Finance Department, a position he holds today. Bill is regularly quoted in the local and regional media and has appeared on a range of news programs including Fox Business News and WTOP. He is a member of the Virginia Economic Developers Association, the American Association of Geographers, the National Economists Club and the National Association for Business Economics. He has served as Vice President of the Prince William County Habitat for Humanity, as Vice President of the Prince William Symphony Orchestra and Chairman (2003-4) for Unity in the Community. In 2005, Bill volunteered with the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief where he directed and supervised emergency response vehicles and staff throughout the South in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina, and Rita. Bill currently serves on the board of the September 11 Survivors Group for 3 World Trade Center.Bill is currently designated as the County liaison for the U. S.
