As the community service chairman for Pi Kappa Alpha, I oversaw a team of three individuals, and we sought volunteer opportunities for our fraternity brothers. I was constantly communicating with local organizations via email such as Trees Knoxville, Young Williams Animal Center, The Love Kitchen, and several more in an effort to find the best possible opportunities for my peers to volunteer with. I tasked each of the people that I worked with to find at least one opportunity a week that the chapter could get involved with (and assisted them if they ever fell short), and we managed to do a lot of good within the community.

During my time as an employee at Moe's Southwest Grill, I worked constantly with customers. I was able to build my communication skills through having to constantly interact with customers, and communicate with the rest of my coworkers so that we could most successfully complete our job. I was responsible for training over twenty new hires, which helped my leadership skills grow.

As an employee at Newk's Eatery, I was in charge of making salads. With this being my first job, I learned how to be a team player. Newk's taught me that just because my work may be finished does not necessarily mean that all of the work is finished, and that it is my responsibility as an employee to step up and help out a coworker. My time management skills also grew, as I would often have multiple tasks that needed to be completed under relatively short deadlines, like having to make an eighty salad catering order while also making salads for customers that were in the store.
