For most of the year, I spend a significant amount of time climbing mountains. Hiking for entire days is grueling work, but despite the cold and rainy weather or the buffeting of winds at high altitudes I persevered and reached my goals every time I set out.A good amount of my remaining leisure time is spent either as a Dungeon Master for a Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition group, or as a Raid Leader for a Final Fantasy XIV high end raiding static. In the first role I act as the designer of unique locations, encounters, puzzles, characters, and stories, as well as the adjudicator of the various rules of the game. The second role sees me as a manager of a successful and ever changing roster of wildly different personalities and goals overcoming all of the most difficult challenges the game has to offer.I bring the same perseverance, creativity, effort, and results driven attitude into my work as a software engineer. If a problem is too big to push through I find a way around it while compromising as little as possible. If a surprise deadline is coming I reassign priorities and push to the best of my ability, prioritizing the minimum viable product. If a unique solution is required I adapt and develop to meet requirements while refining as much as possible. My work is always structured, easy to read and understand, and well documented.As an APEGA certified Software Engineer in Training, these traits have allowed me to work on and complete a wide variety of projects, many of which require vastly different skill sets, ranging from interactive virtual reality simulations, to machine learning algorithms, to single and multiplayer games, to databases, to web based systems, to electronics, and to mobile based applications. I have experience in working for clients of multiple industries such as education, energy domains, transportation, postal services, mining, health care, safety, jewelry, agriculture, and more.I am a loyal, trustworthy, and versatile team player, happy to perform duties outside my expertise, capable of approaching problems from multiple directions at once, and experienced in analyzing solutions in various hypothetical settings. I am not afraid to seek advice when working with systems and concepts or when refining existing systems and solutions, and am excited to share any advice, knowledge, or suggestions that might help a co-worker, or to bounce ideas back and forth.
