I am an East Tennessee State University (ETSU) graduate with a Bachelors in Business Management. I have over five years of experience working in and managing a commercial restaurant kitchen, and over five years of experience working in and managing my families scuba diving shop. In my time at The Firehouse, inc. I started my journey in the dish room and climbed the ranks until I was given the responsibility of managing the Kitchen and Carry Out departments for the restaurant. I learned the importance of teamwork within my department as well as the importance of teamwork between different departments. I also learned importance of taking care of all the people that are around you in a job in my time at The Firehouse, inc. In learning the importance of taking care of people I discovered my passion for not just desiring to care for people in the work place, but wanting and striving to get the best out of people and maximizing their potential in the positions they are in.I left The Firehouse, inc. on excellent terms and came to work for my Mother and Father at our families dive shop, Smoky Mountain Divers. My Father started the business back in 1980. I joined the team that my Father had built as the Business Manager. I have brought all of my knowledge and experience of what to do and not to do from the kitchen and applied it to scuba diving. In the five years that I have been back at the scuba shop we have seen our business grow in remarkable ways and thrive in seasons of disaster and uncertainty. We have been able to grow our revenue streams, as well as add new revenues streams to our business model. We have been able to more than triple our employee base. We have also been able to grow our out reach into the our surrounding communities offering people of all ages the opportunity to try and learn about scuba diving that otherwise may have never known the opportunity existed.In all of my work experience through the years I have learned and come to believe that people are important and are to be cared for. Regardless of what industry or job I hold; I will always be in the people business.
