My family and I produce sustainably-raised meat and vegetables from our farm in Clay County, Kentucky. Our primary enterprises include organic vegetables, cut flowers, grass fed beef and pastured lamb. We pride ourselves in producing delicious food in a manner that improves our land base while providing excellent service to our customers.

Provide local farmers and forest owners with research-based technical guidance to support their businesses.

Responsible for developing and implementing conservation strategies in Kentucky’s Appalachian region. Experiences have included serving on the Operations Team of the Cumberland Forest Project, scoping land projects for protection options, and assisting landowners with enrollment into forest carbon projects.

• Conduct research and management activities on free-ranging elk and white-tailed deer populations in Kentucky. Experiences have included:
• Development of a new access program that links private landowners and elk hunters.
• Development of the Kentucky Elk Management Plan.
• Restoration projects that returned elk to native ranges in Missouri, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
• Assisted with field work for multiple graduate projects (4 M.S. projects, 2 Ph.D projects).

Oversaw the implementation of a multi-year elk research project with the University of Kentucky Department of Forestry and the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. During this time, my team and I successfully captured, collared, and monitored approximately 140 elk calves as part of a parasitology and survival study.
