MEEP interns are responsible for developing and presenting themed tours to visiting camp groups, and engaging visitors at educational touch carts in the Museum halls. The program provides on-the-job training and exposure to careers in science, museum education, and related fields. Participants work closely with Museum scientists and educators exploring scientific content and learning valuable skills for working with and teaching learners of all ages. MEEP is a great opportunity for young adults to have an impact on the experiences of thousands of Museum visitors.

As an Observatory Host at the Empire State Building I worked 8 hour shifts standing providing customer service for the ~10,000 daily visitors. I was required to be knowledgeable about the history of the building, as well as the geography and skyline of the city in order to direct visitors and enhance their experience.It was a very valuable experience for getting to work at and learn about the inner workings of such a historic building. It was also a good opportunity for me to work on my language skills in Spanish, Portuguese and Japanese.

As a SRMP Intern I received training in python alongside other students being trained to do astronomy, biology or geology research at the Museum. After completing the program I worked after-school at AMNH with 3 other students and our post-doctorate mentor who lead us in Astrophysics research project.We used a data set compiled from AMNH and Digital Access to a Sky Century @ Harvard (DASCH) to describe the evolving periodicity of Cepheid Variable stars.
