As a Project Engineer at Comtech Industries, my responsibilities included both design & project management roles and regularly involved working with a range of customers of varying industries. In this role, I was responsible for reviewing customer designs & providing design support, tooling design & validation, supervising production & assembly of new & existing products, 3D Modelling using CATIA, as well as problem solving issues and defects within the production process. In this position, I was also regularly involved in the project management side of the business, including specification validation & verification, development & management of quality control documents for new & existing products, creation & management of work instructions, along with evaluating & executing process improvement initiatives throughout the factory.

Between November 2013 and March 2015, I was employed by Volvo Group Trucks Technology as a Student Work Experience Intern. Working as part of the Mechanical Design Team, I worked on a range of projects on both the Volvo & Mack Trucks fleet, ranging from small quality improvement designs to larger development projects. My role included mechanical design, root cause analysis, along with other quality & reliability tasks. This position allowed me to further develop skills in CAD, design for manufacture, while also learning about the role of an engineer within the heavy vehicle industry.

My position as a student ambassador under the QUT Science & Engineering Faculty Widening Participation Program involves hosting a variety of workshops and programs at primary & secondary schools across the northern district of Brisbane. This program seeks to promote science & mathematics whilst encouraging students from low socioeconomic regions to consider tertiary education in STEM based courses. This involved working in small teams, regularly only two, to manage the class for the duration of the activity.
