Most recently, I have been an engineer on the Conversations team. This team manages and maintains the resources, services, and infrastructure responsible for all commenting/discussion features inside of Smartsheet.From Oct 2021 - Nov 2022, I was working on decoupling the front-end code that my team owned from our monolithic frontend codebase. This project involved:- Finding and auditing the dependencies that our components relied on.- Designing systems and patterns to remove the direct dependencies we had on legacy code in our components.- Migrating, testing, and updating our components as they moved to our individual repository.- Building new tooling in our repository to support independent CI/CD, complete with jobs for building, testing, and deploying artifacts.- Dive deep into front-end technologies including Typescript, React, Redux, RxJS, Sass,- Utilize UX/UI tools (Storybook, Figma) to showcase our independent components to Product, UX, and other stakeholders.From Summer 2020 - Fall 2021, I was beginning my journey into front-end development.During this time, I came up to speed on the design, architecture, and structure of our front-end code. I began with fixing bugs, and eventually led the effort to implement new functionality into one of our Conversations experiences. I led the design, planning, and execution of this project, and worked with other Engineers on the team to complete this work.Miscellaneous Backend work from 2020-2022 :- Overhauled a legacy service running in AWS to leverage new technologies, standards, and business needs.- Wrote/maintained Infrastructure-as-code to manage resources and configuration.- Used tools including Terraform/Terragrunt, Packer, Datadog, Gitlab CI/CD, and various AWS tools.

Member of the updated “Server Platform” pillar.Migrating an existing legacy service to run off of EC2 instances inside AWS. This project was mainly based around container-izing the existing service, and as a result, involved learning about and regularly developing against many modern technologies. Technologies that I worked on during this project included: AWS EC2, AWS IAM, AWS Route53, AWS Cloudwatch (and integration with Datadog/Grafana), AWS ECR + Docker, Terraform/Terragrunt, Gitlab CI/CD integration, Apache Tomcat, Packer to build AWS AMIs, SELinux administration, and Puppet/Hieradata.For a period of ~6 months, I served as the sole developer on 3 services under my Pillar. During my time as the SME on these services, I was relied upon as a resource for information around these services, as well as. I was able to handle and balance my work between all 3 services, and still produced deliverables on time.Various infrastructure related tasks, as well as ramping up to become the primary developer on an existing service which handled one of the most essential features about Smartsheet - Collaboration.Worked in improving back-end infrastructure for the collaboration service. Worked at evaluating and performance testing AWS services (DynamoDB and SNS/SQS) to find benefits for the service.Led and assisted with multiple production infrastructure events. This process included requirement gathering, organization of information into easy to follow runbooks, and process execution against production systems.Touched code in both the main app and varying microservices. Worked on various bug fixes for all of the services that the pillar owned.Assisted other teams with creating integration tests to ensure that code transitioned from a monolithic app to an independent microservice would still function properly and have backwards compatibility.Participated in an on call rotation to monitor and track the health of all services owned by the pillar through PagerDuty.

Member of the infrastructure engineering team, which focuses on the reliability, security, scalability, and availability of the Smartsheet platform. We work with a number of different languages, frameworks and technologies to assure that Smartsheet stays the very best that it can be in all backend aspects.Worked on building a brand new service to serve as an example and template for future micro service migrations.
