Yanela Ferrer, an experienced bilingual educator born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1979, is a lifelong learner fueled by a strong passion for global and international education. This passion drives her commitment to culturally responsive teaching, equity, and restorative practices that ensure students' success. Her devotion to these principles is not just a professional pursuit but a personal mission she embraces daily.Since 2000, Yanela has been active in the education sector in her home country, primarily as a bilingual teacher at various levels, focusing on young learners. Her leadership abilities and capacity to manage responsibilities were highlighted when she became a key member of the formal School Leadership Team at a Bilingual School in Temperley, Buenos Aires, Argentina.Now residing in the DC Metro Area of the United States, she teaches 5th grade in a fully dual-language public elementary school. Yanela's commitment to her students and the school community was recognized when Participate Learning awarded her the 2021 Teacher of the Year. This prestigious accolade reflects her exceptional dedication and the shared mission of connecting our world through global learning. She has also shared her knowledge through engaging presentations and impactful professional development sessions on Global and International Education for local and international teachers in the USA, further amplifying her influence in the educational community.Her educational background includes a Master of Education in Innovation in Education, a Bachelor's Degree in Education specializing in the English Language, an Early Childhood Education Teaching Degree, and a Postgraduate Degree in Early Institutionalization focusing on Diversity. These qualifications, combined with her extensive experience, have provided her with a comprehensive understanding of student-centered approaches to enhance student performance and interpersonal skills, which she effectively implements in her teaching. Yanela is also the wife and mother of two remarkable college students who are citizens of the world.
