The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, the largest municipal water and power utility in the nation, has delivered reliable, safe water and electricity to 4 million residents and businesses in Los Angeles for over 100 years. As a Utility Accountant with the Cost Accounting team, I ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance. My responsibilities include classifying new work orders in the Power and Water systems to the proper general ledger accounts per FERC, CPUC, GAAP, and DWP policies into RCAS. Analyzing work orders and various criteria to present accurate quarterly financial statements for Power, Water, and Joint. Managing the monthly closing of the Miscellaneous Accounting Source System, which involves uploading journal vouchers and interfund billings in addition to editing, and reconciling them for both Water and Power Funds. I perform regular maintenance of RCAS by correcting unclearable and suspended charges from various source systems monthly and correcting invalid AP transactions daily. Preparing quarterly schedules and entries to analyze Water and Power Construction Work in Progress reports. I assist in annual activities such as Work Order Purge, preparation of Joint Expense reports, reclassification of Joint Expense WOs, Maintenance of Symbol Code Tables, and Pre-assigned JV series numbers. Additionally, I prepare quarterly and annual audit schedules and participate in Financial System replacement activities as needed.

This included preparing monthly, quarterly and annual operation and maintenance (O&M) billings for the McCullough Switching Station (MCC) , Mead Adelanto (MAP), McCullough-Victorville Line II and Navajo Western Transmission System Losses projects and capital billings for MCC and MAP projects. Coordinating with different divisions and auditors regarding various issues and calculating overhead rates for the correct fiscal year. In addition, I wrote procedures for the monthly MCC and MAP O&M billings.

As a staff on the Assurance and Advisory team, I partnered with the engagement team to plan and implement audits, reviews and compilations by completing various engagement workpapers. This included systematically reviewing client documentation by assessing risk of significant audit areas and assertions to identify potential or existing problems in order to prepare financial statements, footnotes and applicable supporting documents. In addition, I led the team with planning and executing 401k audits for multiple clients while assessing project statuses compared to engagement timelines, and communicating schedule adjustments to the engagement team in a timely manner.

Western Asset is a globally integrated fixed-income manager, sourcing ideas and investment solutions worldwide. As a custodian bank relationship specialist I requested and confirmed accurate cash and securities Standard Settlement Instructions (SSI) for newly funded portfolios, bank to bank transitions and ad-hoc requests from the trading desk to be utilized in Omgeo ALERT. This included performing and establishing procedures for the reconciliation of 15,000+ SSI's with Western Asset's top five custodians. In addition, the custodian bank relationship team engaged in monthly scorecard review meetings with Western Asset's top five custodians to ensure productive and effective relationships with all teams within the Investment Support department. I advanced my knowledge of Microsoft Excel and grew proficient with the reconciliatory software Duco Cube.
