  • Hack Reactor
    Hack Reactor Student
    Hack Reactor Jan 2022 - May 2022
Through studying 12+ hours/day I was given an immersive experience in programming essentials that included:- Understanding and applying JS fundamentals like recursion, instantiation patterns, execution contexts, data structures, this keyword.- Understanding and applying back-end concepts involving NodeJS, Express, mySQL, mongoDB, RESTful API's and CRUD operations.-Understanding and applying front-end concepts involving React, state management, MVC architecture, CSS flexbox/grid, some basic JQuery.During my learning phase at Hack Reactor, we worked on teams of 2 to pair program and explain concepts as we worked through 2-day sprints. After the learning phase, the last 6 weeks of the program were focused on familiarizing ourselves with Agile workflow in the contexts of building 3 projects:(Please message me if you'd like to see any repo or talk about it. I'd love to share!)1) Front-End Capstone - Worked on a team of 4 engineers to parse a 28 page Business Requirement Document, diagram the data-flow using wire-framing techniques, and establishing a remote repository with branches to organize an effective workflow between engineers to build our application. 2) Back-End Capstone - Worked on a team of 3 engineers to redesign an API to horizontally scale into 3 services in order to increase the number of requests handled per second. I specifically worked using MongoDB and express JS to transform and load more than 10 million entries into a format that could be queried efficiently. I later tested the efficiency using artillery, and once deployed by using loader.io. My service could handle 750 requests per second, maintain an error rate of 0% with an average latency of 15ms.3) Lastly, I worked on a team of 10 engineers to meet with a client, understand their vision for an application by asking clarifying questions and submitting a proposal. Finally we built the application using authentication, socket.io for a chat feature, and MongoDB for a back-end.
  • Zach'S Free Time
    Student Of Software Engineering
    Zach'S Free Time Mar 2021 - Dec 2021
    U.A.E.
In March of 2021, while working as a full-time teacher in the middle east, I studied and was accepted into Hack Reactor Bootcamp. I continued to study about 3 hours/day using udemy courses, codewars, and bootcamp prep materials.Completed courses on udemy include: -"The Complete JavaScript Course 2021: from zero to expert!" (68.5 hours of video)-"Build Responsive Real-World Websites with HTML and CSS" (16 hours of video)-"React - The Complete Guide..." (48 hours of video)While probably not retaining all of the information in these courses, I can say that I've learned a lot and can apply many of the concepts to building my own personal projects in ReactJS or using Vanilla JS. At this point, the plan is to start learning some backend concepts before attending Hack Reactor in Feb. 2022.

At GEMS I have encountered my first experience working at an International School. I've encountered so many different cultures and different perspectives that have taught me to be a better listener, and to be more open-minded. Additionally, I've continued to have an impact on students by showing genuine passion for my subject and a passion for their learning.

During these two years I was immersed in Arabic culture while teaching students who were entirely 'ESL'. While learning about Arabic culture, I continued to refine my skills in communicating difficult and logical mathematical concepts to people who spoke very little english at all. Additionally, it was at Al Mutanabi that I grew to be recognized as maintaining exceptional environmental management and as having extremely strong relationships with my students.
  • Northside Isd
    High School Math Teacher

This was my first full-time job (fresh out of college). It was here that I was really invested in, given leadership opportunities (AP Co-Coordinator, Algebra 2 Team-Lead), and developed some long-lasting friendships. As the AP Co-Coordinator, I organized the schools' 667 AP students by meeting all "CollegeBoard" time-sensitive deadlines (like signing students up for tests, ordering tests, storing the tests, having students pre-register for tests, and communicating with all AP teachers to register their respective classes to take the exams). In addition to these college board expectations, I was required to maintain certain standards about testing environments and organized teachers to proctor exams, monitor halls, count/verify materials, and even reserved certain classrooms for testing times during the day. This was probably my largest administrative responsibility as a teacher. As Algebra 2 team lead, I was in charge of organizing the pacing of our Algebra 2 curriculum (tests and units) for our school and held weekly meetings to discuss this information with a team of 6 colleagues).
  • St. Edward'S University
    Bridge To College Success
    St. Edward'S University Jul 2012 - Aug 2012

I taught a group of incoming freshman basic mathematical concepts before their academic year started. I also participated in tutoring hours for them outside of class time a couple times a week. This in total amounted to roughly 10 hours of teaching per week.
