Diamond Dollars Case Competition at Columbia University • Our task was to predict how the free agent market; who would sign, for how much, and how long.• Found comparable players using K-means clustering to compare contracts and performance of players with similar careers.• Produced an age curve which was used to create the “talent shifter” formula which predicted WAR for both players.• Built a cost per WAR model which produced a value of how much each player should be payed based off their predicted WAR.• Utilized the aging curve to predict the contract length based on where comparable players tend to decline.
