Zakariya'u Dauda is a dedicated 4th-year student at the School of Medical Laboratory Science, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS). With a deep-rooted passion for global health, Zakariya'u has focused his efforts on critical areas such as Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and digital health. His journey is driven by a commitment to making a tangible impact in these fields, where he sees immense potential for positive change.Zakariya'u actively seeks out opportunities to broaden his knowledge and contribute to global public health. As an MCN 22 Fellow and Ambassador at AMR Insights, he has sharpened his expertise in AMR and emerged as a strong advocate for global health initiatives. Demonstrating his leadership, Zakariya'u founded UDUYARS, a youth-led society dedicated to combating antimicrobial resistance. Through UDUYARS, he has spearheaded over 20 online and onsite projects, directly impacting more than 500,000 individuals by spreading essential knowledge to prevent the occurrence and spread of antimicrobial resistance.His academic excellence is matched by his hands-on experience and active involvement in prestigious programs. During his comprehensive internship at the Boston Congress of Public Health, Zakariya'u acquired vital knowledge that enables him to contribute to the availability of reliable health information, ultimately fostering a healthier population. His volunteer work with the Oxford COVID-19 Government Response Tracker (Ox-CGRT) highlights his unwavering commitment to global public health. He meticulously tracked and documented government responses to the COVID-19 pandemic, contributing to a critical global data repository.In addition to his academic and professional achievements, Zakariya'u holds a diploma in Medical Laboratory Science from Sultan Abdul Rahman School of Health Technology, Gwadabawa, and was certified as a Medical Laboratory Technician by the Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria in 2017. His extensive practical experience includes medical laboratory training at Usmanu Danfodiyo Teaching Hospital Sokoto and Specialist Hospital Sokoto, along with intermediate work experience as a medical laboratory technician in various facilities, further solidifying his expertise.Beyond his professional pursuits, Zakariya'u is a passionate advocate for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education). He believes in the power of kindness and love, striving to spread both wherever he goes, making the world a little brighter one act at a time.
