Zi interned on our team, focusing on several projects building out a new implementation of Blizzard's declarative visual scripting language; the internship was a resounding success and hiring Zi was the obvious course. After joining as a full-time engineer, Zi took ownership of many of our debugging tools and frameworks used widely by both gameplay engineers and designers. Zi owned our script debugger and built our data flow debugger and ECS-based entity debugger, tackling design, documentation, and implementation. These debuggers were absolutely essential to the team's workflows, and Zi continued to support and improve them as the team's needs grew and evolved, including laying the foundation to enable remote debugging for cross-platform clients and deployed servers. Between work on debuggers, Zi also tackled a number of important technology initiatives around our asset pipeline and gameplay asset definitions, system performance in the scripting engine, netcode support, and general gameplay engineer and designer support. Zi is always happy to learn something new and dive into unfamiliar sections of the tech stack. The team could rely on Zi to deliver the highest quality of work; his code was clean, bugs were rare, and his documentation was extensive. Zi consistently delivered work above expectations."
