As outlet manager and budget holder for the Waterfront Bar, KCLSU's flagship venue, my duties involved the day to day management, control, operation and development of the venue, as well as related service and activities. I was responsible for setting the yearly budget and running the business in an appropriate manner to ensure financial targets were met. I also assisted with the effective delivery of a diverse, popular and complementary programme of entertainment across all KCLSU sites.I ensured that the venue complied with all health and safety, fire, building and other regulations, as well as licensing law and general law of the land. A large part of the role involved HR and its practical applications, including interview, induction, training and development of many members of student staff. Large parts of this were to ensure that the highest standards of customer care were delivered.I worked closely with the marketing team to deliver campaigns and offers that helped grow the business whilst remaining current, closely monitored and effective. The role required me to think logically and have a calm temperament to enable me to respond quickly and decisively, often whilst under large amounts of pressure. The nature of the work allowed very little room for error as customer safety and security is often at stake.

Responsible for the operational running of the venues within KCLSU. This covers a range of areas from HR to health and safety, from compliance to financial regulations.
