NSF AI Institute for Societal Decision Making (NSF AI-SDM)

The NSF AI Institute for Societal Decision Making (NSF AI-SDM) launched on June 1, 2023 and brings together AI and social sciences researchers to develop human-centric AI for societal good that harnesses the power of data and improved understanding of human decisions to create better and more trusted choices. AI-SDM researchers are working to enhance our understanding of human decision-making. They are advancing AI techniques for autonomous decision-making while considering human factors that govern the acceptance of decisions. These AI advancements are not only inspired by human decision-making but are also actively applied to enhance decision-making processes in critical areas such as resource allocation, personalized interventions in public health, and disaster management.
