About Assistance and Referral Centre (ARC)
ARC is a not-for-profit community organization based in Greenfield Park that is part of a network of 25 organizations catering to the needs of the English-speaking community across the province. Created in November 2011, our mission is to facilitate access to health and social services to the English-speaking community of Montérégie Centre. We organize a number of activities and provide community services and programs for all age groups divided into five (5) main components: ✔ SENIORS At ARC we interact with people of 50 years + and seniors in ways that are fun, interesting and helpful through our senior’s programs. -Drop-ins to enjoy interactive games and refreshments. - Arts & crafts, painting classes for mind stimulation and break isolation; - Conferences for continued learning. - Activities for Seniors at the CHSLD Marguerite-de-Champlain. ✔ CAREGIVERS ARC offers two activities for Caregivers that is made possible thanks to the financial funding of L'Appui Montérégie: - ReCharge training: Facilitated by a clinical nurse. This is a 7 Week interactive training. - The ReCharge Support Group: Guided by a social worker once per month. ✔ YOUTH -Parent-child Mother Goose for children 0-3 years old. -Sajou and Salie for children ages 3-6. -The South Shore Resource Guide for families with young children. -A parent information document series entitled Fostering Communication with your Child. -Workshops facilitated by a family life educator. -McGill Retention program. MENTAL HEALTH ARC has opened its Greenfield Park office to community programs: - Our Harbour cooking class - The group Impatient with a craft activity - Ami Quebec South Shore chapter hosted with a summer evening meeting. PARTNERSHIP Over the years, ARC has acquired core funding allowing the organization to be solid and ensuring sustainability.
