Beaker Street Ltd

Beaker Street is a cultural organisation and registered charity in Lutruwita/Tasmania, with science and community at its heart. The brainchild of a fun-loving evolutionary biologist, Beaker Street is pioneering a new model of science engagement, where diverse adult audiences are welcomed into scientific thinking and discovery, with a generous serve of merriment, and a distinctly Tasmanian twist. Since our launch in 2017, our core offering, Beaker Street Festival, has evolved from a nerdy night out into a prominent week-long festival and Australia’s premier National Science Week event. Our Roving Scientist Program is on track to become a significant national outreach and professional development offering, and our youthful CoLab sci-art experiment continues to shatter misconceptions and promote diversity in STEM. We’ve grown beyond expectations, capturing and sharing our enthusiasm for, and belief in, science. We’re led by a small and passionate team, governed by a dedicated Board of Directors, and supported by a fabulous community of scientists and volunteers. As we move toward our 10th year, we will continue to trailblaze the creation of a new model of science engagement through interactive, immersive experiences. Most importantly, we want to strengthen our position as an agent of positive change, a place where conversations get started, where voices are heard, and topics and ideas are shared.
