About Black People in Psychiatry & Psychology Network

The Black and Minority Ethnics in Psychiatry & Psychology (BiPP) Network is a registered non-profit organisation led by Black mental health professionals, and students in medicine, psychology and behavioural sciences related degrees who aim to prioritise and advance the representation of Black and Minority Ethnic backgrounds in psychiatry and psychology. We demonstrate our commitment to achieving this aim by hosting panel discussions, talks, presentations and workshops which address issues of racial inequalities in the mental health field, as well as providing a community for registered and prospective ethnic minority mental health professionals to acquire social, emotional, psychological and developmental support. Our current objectives include: - providing insight, guidance, and knowledge on accessing careers in psychiatry and psychology for individuals of Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) background via panel discussions, talks, presentations and/or workshops - increasing exposure to, learning, and discussion of cross-cultural or BME psychological theory, practice and research via panel discussions, talks, presentations and/or workshops. - exploring various approaches to addressing racial disparities in mental health care via panel discussions, talks, presentations and/or workshops.
