The Centre for Brain Research (CBR) was established in 2014 through a philanthropic endowment from the Pratiksha Trust founded by Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan and Mrs Sudha Gopalakrishnan. Hosted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), the goal of CBR is to preserve cognitive functions during aging and to minimise the burden of neurodegenerative diseases through early diagnosis, prevention, and innovative, scientifically proven interventions. It is a lively hub of dedicated molecular and cellular biologists, neuroscientists, clinician-researchers, computational geneticists, data scientists, PhD students, and other young researchers engaged in interdisciplinary translational research. Besides enabling cutting-edge research on brain aging, CBR invests in public engagement initiatives to enhance awareness about aging-related brain disorders such as Alzheimer's disease.
