Chemical Engineering Association(ChEA), IITB

ChEA is an association of the rich resources of Alumni, Faculty, students and staff of the Chemical Engineering department. Established in 1965, the association has constantly worked upon spreading knowledge and awareness in the field of chemical engineering through meetings, discussions, workshops, seminars, etc. We thus simulate collaborative efforts among industry, universities, Government, professional societies, and other chemical associations in India and abroad. This target of “Scaling up the Chemical engineer in you” has been very successfully achieved with the active participation of our Alumni by our colorful and rich events like: “Then v/s Now”, an Instagram series to compare and emphasize the employment conditions in 2009 world crisis and 2020 Pandemic. “Core Talks” a panel discussion to help in making the big decision: Industry OR Higher studies. The main motive was letting people know about the possible career opportunities in the core and hence make the above decision. “Time Capsule”, another interactive panel discussion to bring together all these distinguished alumni from our department and talk on how careers can diversify, what problems can be faced and how to learn from our experiences. We also organize various fun events like “Traditional Day”, “Freshie Orientation”, “Department Trips”, “Department valedictory function” etc. to engage the interest of students so that they have stronger bonds amongst themselves and with the department. We release bilateral newsletters that sum up the happenings of the department. A special edition of the annual newsletter, intended for the institute newcomers (first-year students) is released at the beginning of the academic year. We believe in imparting knowledge and awareness of the possible opportunities in the field of chemical engineering through expert talks, interviews and blog articles produced by our professors, seniors and alumni.
