About Cornell Interfraternity Council

Since 1868, fraternities have been a central aspect of student life at Cornell University. Today, the Cornell Interfraternity Council oversees 36 active chapters, all with diverse brotherhoods, values, philanthropic missions, and traditions. Over a third of the student population at Cornell is affiliated with a fraternity or sorority, and there are over 2,000 members of our fraternity community. The purpose of the Cornell Interfraternity Council is to represent the interests of the 36 IFC chapters to the University administration and to promote unity amongst all chapters. Additionally, as a self-governing organization, we manage a fraternity-wide judicial system, the Greek Judicial Board, and spearhead all recruitment & publicity efforts for our fraternity community. The Cornell Interfraternity Council and its member fraternities accept & celebrate students of all identities and backgrounds—regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, ability/disability, or socioeconomic status. To learn more about the IFC and to get involved, please visit cornellifc.org or contact president@cornellifc.org.
