Frogman Mindfulness

I’m a retired Navy SEAL Commander who speaks on, teaches, and coaches mindfulness, resilience, grit, and compassion. In the context of the U.S. Navy SEALs, "frogman" is a historical term that refers to our origins. The SEALs evolved from the Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs) of World War II, which were also known as "frogmen" due to their specialized training in swimming, diving, and working underwater. These early frogmen would conduct reconnaissance, clear obstacles, and perform other underwater duties, often paving the way for amphibious landings. They were trained to operate in all environments, but their distinctive capability was combat diving, which involved being deployed from submarines or swimming long distances underwater. This heritage carries over to modern SEAL (Sea, Air, Land) teams. While the term "frogman" is not typically used today in the U.S. Navy, the legacy of the frogmen is a crucial part of SEAL history. Modern SEALs receive extensive training in combat diving as part of their preparation for special operations missions. They continue to conduct underwater demolitions, reconnaissance, and salvage operations, among other tasks. So - with what I teach and with my background as a Navy SEAL - Frogman Mindfulness was hatched!
