Gaithersburg HELP is an ALL VOLUNTEER organization, born of the idea that in an emergency, obtaining government benefits often takes time. Understanding that the immediate needs of local families still must be met, local churches and synagogues joined together to address this issue and coordinate a response.
Nearly 50 years later, our support network is comprised of more than 25 member congregations, corporate sponsors, countless individual donors and more than 200 volunteers, who keep our programs running seamlessly every day. Under the direction of our board and executive leadership, Gaithersburg HELP continues to provide vital services via our food pantry, infant needs, prescription assistance and transportation programs.
Here's a snapshot of how we made a difference in 2016:
* Distributed 3,837 packages containing a 3-5 day supply of food
* Provided diaper/formula to 1,209 babies
* Fulfilled 721 rides to medical & social services appointments
* Funded 789 essential medical prescriptions
