Good Life with osteoArthritis in Denmark (GLA:D®) is an 8-week education and tailored neuromuscular exercise program for individuals with hip or knee osteoarthritis. The program in Denmark has shown to decrease pain, improve physical function and increase levels of physical activity. The GLA:D® program is being adapted to a Canadian context through GLA:D™ Canada. Individuals with early or late stages of osteoarthritis are suitable for the program. GLA:D Canada™ has been licensed to the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation through Bone and Joint Canada. The program is being launched in Ontario (through funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation), Alberta (through Albert Health Services) and across the country.
Plans to have the program available in French are underway. We are also looking for strategies to implement the program in rural/remote communities.
