Holloway Friendly

We’ve been around for a long time. Since 1875 in fact. We were founded by a businessman and MP called George Holloway, from Stroud in Gloucestershire. He saw what happened when his employees got ill or had an accident, and how it impacted their lives. So, he did something about it and came up with an innovative and new type of insurance. The idea was basically that everyone regularly paid a small amount into a pot of money. Then if someone was unlucky and became too unwell to work, they’d get paid some money back out of the pot as a replacement income. Fast forward to today, and we’re still insuring people against becoming too unwell to work. We’re also still owned by our members. The only reason we exist is to help them, not make money for anyone else. Plus, we’re still based in sunny Gloucestershire! Whilst we’ve been around a long time, we treat every day as an opportunity to keep improving, innovating and make a difference to our members lives.
